What is a dwarf

Dwarfism is defined as a condition in which the height is more than 30% lower than the standard height of children of the same race, age, and sex, or in which the height of adults is less than 120 cm, mainly due to insufficient secretion of growth hormone, resulting in delayed physical growth. The majority of dwarfism is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder of unknown origin, which is familial in origin; some are caused by hypothalamic pituitary disorders that result in insufficient secretion of growth hormone. The IQ of a person with dwarfism is generally normal. At present, secondary growth hormone deficiency caused by hypothalamic pituitary disorders can be treated accordingly with growth hormone replacement therapy.
