Acute tonsillar suppuration heals in a few days

Acute tonsillar abscesses may resolve in about 3 days in those who recover well, with the majority of patients recovering in about 1 week. If a peri-tonsillar abscess develops, recovery is slower, taking about 2 weeks to recover. Tonsillar suppuration includes purulent tonsillitis and peri-tonsillar abscess, and the course of treatment varies depending on the degree of infection and response to medication. Purulent tonsillitis requires active and effective anti-infection treatment and can be cured in about 3 days for milder infections, while the majority of those with more severe infections can be cured in about 1 week. However, once a peri-tonsillar abscess develops, the patient’s recovery is relatively slow, and it takes about 2 weeks to heal after active anti-infection treatment and abscess excision treatment. Tonsil abscess should be treated with sensitive antibiotics as much as possible, and it is recommended to visit the ENT department in a timely manner and follow the medical advice. At the same time, patients need to pay attention to rest and drink warm water in appropriate amounts.
