A bitter throat may be caused by improper diet, gastroesophageal reflux, cholecystitis and other conditions.
1. Improper diet: If you have recently consumed too much bitter food and do not have the habit of rinsing your mouth after eating, it may cause the flavor to remain in your mouth, resulting in a bitter throat.
2. Gastroesophageal reflux: Gastroesophageal reflux is mainly caused by the weakening of anti-reflux defense mechanism. Typical symptoms include heartburn and reflux. Generally, after meals, there will be liquid or food reflux from the stomach or esophagus to the pharynx or mouth, and some patients will have a bitter throat.
3. Cholecystitis: Cholecystitis is an inflammation of the gallbladder caused by various reasons, the causes of which include gallbladder stones, bile duct obstruction, biliary stasis and so on. Patients with a bitter throat are usually caused by bile reflux.
