The Order of Operation of the Twelve Meridians

The twelve meridians in the order of their operation are the Lung, Large Intestine, Stomach, Spleen, Heart, Small Intestine, Urinary Bladder, Kidney, Pericardium, Sanjiao, Gallbladder and Liver meridians.
The twelve meridians are also known as the “main meridians”, and the order of their operation is the Taiyin Lung Meridian, the Yangming Large Intestine Meridian, the Yangming Stomach Meridian, the Taiyin Spleen Meridian, the Shaoyin Heart Meridian, the Sun Small Intestine Meridian, the Sun Bladder Meridian, the Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, the Syncopal Pericardium Meridian, the Sanjiao Meridian, the Shaoyin Gallbladder Meridian, and the Syncopal Liver Meridian, in order of their functioning.
In addition, the order of qi and blood flow in the twelve meridians is the same as above. The operation of qi and blood depends on the transportation of lung qi. Therefore, the qi and blood flow of the twelve meridians starts from the hand Taiyin Lung Meridian, and passes from meridian to meridian in the above order, forming a circumferential and endless flow system, which flows qi and blood throughout the whole body and nourishes and maintains the functioning of various tissues and organs.
