Will Wisdom Tooth Removal Without Sutures Grow Back?

When wisdom teeth are extracted, the surgeon will decide whether or not to suture the incision depending on the condition of the extraction wound and whether or not a flap has been made. Some wounds do not need stitches per se. However, if the wound needs stitches, there may be delayed healing and bleeding if the wound is not stitched.
1. Some wisdom teeth do not need stitches when they are removed and will heal normally afterwards. However, some wisdom teeth have very high resistance from neighboring teeth or bone, or the roots are thicker, which makes the extraction more traumatic. Sutures can reduce bleeding and promote healing.
2. Some wisdom teeth need to be flapped when they are extracted, i.e., there will be an incision on the gums, which then needs to be sutured. The incision is made and then sutured in place to minimize scarring. Not sewing may result in delayed healing and bleeding from the incision.
Consultation with a medical professional is specifically recommended.
