How high is uric acid?

Usually, the blood uric acid concentration in patients is considered high when it is higher than the upper limit of the normal reference range, i.e., higher than 357 μmol/L in women and higher than 416 μmol/L in men. The normal range of blood uric acid concentration in women is 89-357 μmol/L, and the normal range of blood uric acid concentration in men is 150-416 μmol/L. The reference value of blood uric acid concentration in postmenopausal women is close to that of men. Currently, it is believed that a fasting blood uric acid level higher than 420 μmol/L on two occasions not on the same day can confirm the diagnosis of hyperuricemia. Patients diagnosed with hyperuricemia should be treated with medication depending on the presence or absence of gout, gout stones, cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular risk factors. The uric acid test report should be interpreted by a professional physician, and it is recommended that patients consult with endocrinology, rheumatology and immunology departments of regular hospitals.
