Can you get AIDS from donating blood?

Donating blood will not infect you with AIDS. AIDS is a chronic infectious disease caused by human immunodeficiency virus infection, which is highly contagious, destructive and difficult to treat. There is a fear of AIDS among the population, and the main reason why people think that blood donation can be infected with AIDS is because of incorrect propaganda. The transmission of AIDS can be caused by illegal blood collection and supply, such as sharing blood collection equipment, not conducting HIV screening, or transfusion of blood cells after whole blood separation. However, blood collection is done in a proper place and according to proper procedures, using disposable blood collection equipment, which does not lead to HIV infection through blood donation. Since blood donation is a blood supply rather than a blood transfusion, it is even less likely to cause HIV infection. Nowadays, the screening of blood is very strict, and if HIV infection is found, it cannot be utilized. Therefore, donating blood is an honorable thing to do, so don’t be too hesitant to do so, as blood donation does not cause AIDS.
