How to replenish blood platelets

Normal human platelets range from 100-300×10^9/L. Platelets below 5×10^9/L will have a tendency to bleed, and platelet supplementation is required when platelets are below 3×10^9/L. The most common method of platelet supplementation therapy is direct platelet transfusion. Platelets are commonly available in the form of platelet concentrates, mechanically harvested platelets, and fresh frozen platelets, and the amount of platelet supplementation is often 1-2 U per transfusion, which is the same as transfusion therapy and can directly boost platelets. However, since the survival time of platelets is only 5-7 days, this method is suitable for patients with acute bleeding tendency who are severely thrombocytopenic.
