There are two main types of anesthesia for wisdom tooth extraction: 1. Nerve block anesthesia, the nerves it anesthetizes are the inferior alveolar nerve, buccal nerve and lingual nerve, the patient needs to open the mouth widely when injecting this anesthesia, the site of needle entry is at the very end of the dental bed near the throat, the needle needs to reach the bone surface of the mandible, located at the position of the mandibular nerve groove to inject the anesthetic drug. This anesthesia method anesthetizes the nerve sensation of one side of the entire mandibular tooth, the sensation of the mucosa on the buccal side and the sensation of the mucosa of the tongue, and the patient will experience numbness of half of the tongue and half of the lips. 2. Local infiltration anesthesia, the entry point of this anesthesia is on the mucosa around the wisdom tooth, and a small mound is injected on the mucosa to anesthetize the wisdom tooth by infiltration of anesthetic.
