Lotus root is used as a decoction. It is weak in stopping bleeding and is often used in combination with other medicines.
Lotus root nodule was first published in Treatise on Medicinal Properties. It is sweet, astringent and neutral in nature, and belongs to the liver, lung and stomach meridians. Its basic effects are to stop bleeding by astringency (using drugs with astringent properties to treat bleeding disorders) and to dissolve blood stasis. It is suitable for all kinds of bleeding. Because of its flat nature and weak hemostatic power, it is mostly used in compound formulas or as an adjunct in hemostatic agents.
If treating coughing up blood or vomiting blood, it can be combined with loquat leaf, Agaricus blazei, Baihe and so on. If treating vomiting blood, it can be combined with Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata and Artichoke.
The adverse reactions and contraindications of Lotus Root are not clear. If you need to use the drug, it is recommended to use it under the guidance of a professional doctor.
