The HIV confirmatory test actually refers to the HIV confirmatory test, which is usually performed by the CDC or a state-designated qualified hospital, usually for those patients who have a positive initial screening result. If the initial screening is positive and the confirmatory test is negative, the result of the initial screening is a false positive and the patient is not infected with HIV. If the initial screening is positive and the confirmatory test is also positive, the patient is infected with HIV and should also be checked for HIV-RNA and CD4+ T lymphocyte count before proceeding to the next step of antiviral therapy.
