How did your surgery go?

It has always been my realization that the general public’s knowledge of medicine is so lacking!!!! It has gotten to the point where it is intolerable to seek medical care for any illness! I have warned about how to look at sports medicine in a past miscellaneous article, but the number of patients needing reoperation has not diminished lately, and they think they can make do despite the poor results! It’s not until they can’t stand it that they take it seriously! Again, a word of caution, the success or failure of sports medicine treatments is not finally known until a longer period of time after surgery, usually 1-2 years! It is the successful ones that actually return to sports, the failures that have more serious complications. So don’t be complacent thinking you’ll feel OK after 3 or 5 months, make sure you keep feeling your joints carefully and contact your primary care physician at any time. You should know that even if the surgery is unsuccessful, there are still many ways to deal with it and remedy the situation, so don’t be afraid to go to the doctor!
