The treatment methods for lumbar disc herniation are broadly divided into three main categories: I. Conservative treatment: bed rest, medication, traction therapy, physical therapy, massage therapy, acupuncture therapy, closed therapy, and small needle knife therapy. To relieve clinical symptoms for the purpose of disabling the lumbar disc herniation, prolapse, with spinal stenosis, only suitable for patients with simple lumbar disc bulge. Interventional treatment: intervertebral disc excision and suction, collagenase lysis, ozone decompression, radiofrequency ablation and decompression, laser removal. Third, surgical treatment: conventional open surgery (including: hemi-laminectomy, total laminectomy, transabdominal disc surgery), minimally invasive discoscopic surgery, artificial lumbar disc replacement. Generally speaking, it is not necessary to use complex treatment methods if you can use simple ones, i.e. conservative treatment first, and then consider interventional treatment and surgery if conservative treatment is not effective, interventional treatment is effective, safe, and can treat multiple herniated discs at the same time, which is much cheaper than open surgical treatment, less painful for the patient, and shorter hospital stay.
