What’s wrong with the pain in the outer thighs when I sit down?

Consider soft tissue injury, lumbar disc herniation, lateral femoral dermatitis, femoral head lesion, etc. when sitting down.
1. Soft tissue injury: due to trauma or exertion, the outer thigh muscles, fascia or tendons are damaged, and pain will occur when the damaged part is pulled when sitting down.
2. Herniated lumbar intervertebral discs: Herniated intervertebral discs can cause the sciatic nerve to be compressed, and when the lumbar intervertebral discs are subjected to increased force when sitting down, the compression of the sciatic nerve will be more obvious, which will lead to the pain in the outer thighs, lumbago, and limitation of the activities of the lower limbs.
3. Lateral femoral dermatitis: it is a kind of peripheral nervous system disease caused by infection, external injury, etc. When you sit down, it stimulates the lateral femoral nerve, which causes pinprick pain and numbness in the lateral thigh.
4. Femoral head lesion: mainly refers to femoral head necrosis and tumor of femoral head rotor, which causes inflammation and extrusion of hip joint, resulting in lateral thigh pain, swelling of hip joint and limping.
When sitting down, you can try to stand up, massage, etc. If you can’t improve and the pain lasts for a long time, you should consult a doctor in time.
