What Causes High Bacterial Levels in Urine Tests During Pregnancy

A high bacterial value in urine test during pregnancy may have several causes: firstly, it may be due to contamination of urine, which may be affected by the normal flora of the vagina and present a false-positive urobacteria if the urine comes into contact with the external vaginal opening during retention of the urine. Secondly, the most common infections of the urinary system, mainly due to the reduced resistance during pregnancy, as well as changes in estrogen levels during pregnancy, resulting in the acidity of the vagina being affected. The weakening of the antibacterial effect causes the reproduction and upward movement of bacteria, inducing infections in the urinary tract leading to high bacterial values in the urine test. Again, many women are reluctant to urinate and drink less water during pregnancy due to limited mobility, which can also lead to high urine test bacteria or induce urinary tract infections. Finally, high urine test bacteria can also be seen in urinary stones. The presence of stones makes them the center of bacterial reproduction, thus leading to high urine test bacteria.
