A visual acuity of 5.0 is usually considered normal vision, and an optometry test is required to determine the degree of vision in the eyes.
Visual acuity of 5.0 is derived from the logarithmic visual acuity chart examination method, the normal visual acuity of children under the age of three years is 4.5~4.6; the normal visual acuity of children between 4 and 6 years old is 4.6~4.7; the visual acuity of children between 7 and 8 years old should be up to 4.9; and the standard of the normal visual acuity of children and adults over the age of eight years old is 5.0. When the result of the examination is lower than the standard of the normal standard, it is suspected that there are the possibilities of nearsightedness.
The degree of myopia needs to be clarified by an optometry examination, and the measurement of visual acuity are two different examinations, which usually cannot be directly converted.
If the patient feels that his/her vision has decreased and distant objects are not clearer than before, he/she should go to the ophthalmology clinic of the local hospital in a timely manner to complete the eye examination and follow the doctor’s instructions after clarifying the cause of his/her vision loss.
