How often is appropriate for newborns to breastfeed

How often a newborn baby should drink milk needs to be judged according to the actual situation of the newborn baby, and it is generally recommended that the newborn baby should be given milk every 2~3 hours. There is no specific limit to the number of times a newborn can be fed as well as the amount due to different weights and individual needs. Generally breastfed newborns can be fed once every 2 to 3 hours, and the number of feedings per day is around 8-12 times. If the newborn’s single intake is low, or if the demand increases, the interval between breastfeeding can be shortened, up to once an hour. However, due to the differences in sucking and swallowing ability and stomach capacity of babies, the time and frequency of breastfeeding will vary accordingly, and the exact time of breastfeeding cannot be determined. The principle of breastfeeding is to encourage feeding according to the newborn’s needs. If the child is full, he/she will feel satisfied and be able to sleep quietly or play by himself/herself. During breastfeeding it is important to understand the individual needs of the newborn, and to be supplemented with nutritious food in general, in order to promote the production of milk.
