Thyroid nodules TI-RADS category 5, highly suggestive of malignant potential, are more serious and should be treated as soon as possible. Thyroid nodule TI-RADS category 5 refers to category 5 in the ultrasound malignancy risk stratification of thyroid nodules, highly suggestive of malignancy, with a malignancy probability of >90% for thyroid nodules. Ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNA) can be done to clarify the nature of the nodule and surgical excision can be performed for treatment. If hypothyroidism occurs after surgery, levothyroxine sodium can be taken as a replacement therapy, with regular review. Patients with thyroid nodules TI-RADS category 5 are advised to seek prompt medical attention and active treatment under doctor’s guidance to avoid delay.
