Hypertensive disorders are systemic diseases characterized by organ remodeling due to increased arterial systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure (>=140/90 mmHg) at rest, often accompanied by disorders of fat and glucose metabolism and functional or organic changes in the heart, brain, kidney and retina. Hypertension is a common cardiovascular disease with a clinical syndrome characterized by a persistent increase in blood pressure in the arteries of the body circulation.
