Four Substances Tang is effective in regulating the vital organs and nourishing Qi and Blood; it is used to treat menstrual disorders caused by deficiency of the Chong and Ren veins (damage to the Chong and Ren veins, which affects menstruation and fertility in women), menstrual disorders, metrorrhagia (excessive or sporadic menstruation), and pain in the lower abdomen, and also has an effect on the obstruction of blood in the abdomen and the restlessness of the foetus. Four Substances Tang is a Chinese herbal formula composed of Angelica sinensis, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, White Peony and Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, which together have the effect of tonifying and harmonizing Blood, regulating Rongwei, and is effective in treating disturbances of the fetus, obstruction in the abdomen, and disintegration of the abdomen, as well as treating symptoms of deficiency of the Ying and Blood, such as irregular menstruation. The adverse effects and contraindications of Si Wu Tang are not exact; attention should be paid to a light diet. Before using the medicine, it should be used under the guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, and should not be purchased and used on one’s own, so as to avoid delaying the condition by using the wrong medicine.
