Where to put the anesthesia for root canal treatment

Root canal anesthesia is usually administered in the buccal vestibular sulcus in the maxilla, and in the pterygomandibular frenum 3 to 4 mm lateral to the midpoint in the mandibular wall in the mandible in the mandible. 1. Maxilla: Due to the loose texture of maxilla, anesthesia for maxillary root canal treatment is generally taken by local infiltration, and the anesthesia can be done by local injection in the vestibular sulcus above the root tip of the treated tooth. 2. Mandible: Since the mandible is dense, anesthesia is usually performed by block anesthesia, with the injection site 3 to 4 mm lateral to the midpoint of the ipsilateral pterygomandibular crease, and the injection site is located in the middle and upper part of the medial aspect of the mandibular ascending branch above the mandibular neural canal opening. Root canals are performed in the anterior part of the mandibular region with additional local infiltration anesthesia due to the presence of the chin nerve.
