What to do if you have a psychotic relapse

If a relapse of psychosis is identified, antipsychotic medication should be administered as soon as possible and as early as possible. In general, we first choose to use the same medication that was used during the last psychotic episode, and we start with a small dose and gradually increase the dose. In case of relapse, it is important to adhere to the treatment principles of early detection, early treatment, adequate dosage, adequate course of treatment, and active prevention of relapse. If the relapse is not the second, but the third or even more relapses, it is generally recommended to take medication for life, and to take medication along with active psychotherapy and psychosocial rehabilitation measures to prevent relapse.
