In 2003, the European Union of National Pain Societies launched the European Analgesia Week to raise scientific awareness of the need for timely pain management. This activity was highly evaluated by the International Academy of Pain Research (IASP), which decided to promote it worldwide. The International Society for the Study of Pain has designated October 11 as World Analgesia Day and suggested that the week of mid-October could be designated as “Analgesia Week” according to the situation of each country. The Chinese Pain Society responded positively by designating October 11-17, 2004 (the third week of October) as the first “Chinese Analgesia Week” and proposed the theme of “Pain relief is the basic right of patients” on World Analgesia Day. On World Analgesia Day, the theme of “Pain Relief is the Basic Right of Patients” was proposed to arouse people’s concern about pain. Pain is the earliest and most subjective internal sensation that we experience in our lifetime, and it is a problem that we often encounter. However, due to the long-standing one-sided understanding of pain, people believe that pain is only a symptom of disease and will disappear as soon as the disease is cured, so many patients are still suffering from pain. An authoritative survey company conducted a questionnaire survey of 6,000 citizens about pain, the results show that: 65% of the public have pain experience; 42% of people suffer from neck, shoulder, back and leg pain; more than 78% of people think that pain shadow, 90% of the public do not know that smoking can aggravate muscle and joint pain, 85% of respondents have not heard of medical, 60% of people pain is not effectively controlled. The International Academy of Pain Studies (IASP) defined pain in 1979 as an unpleasant sensation and emotion accompanied by existing or potential tissue damage.
