It is used for deficiency of kidney yang (lack of yang qi of the kidneys), soreness and coldness of the waist and knees, phlegm (pathological product formed by impaired metabolism of water and fluids) wheezing and coughing, dysuria (unruly urination), or urination against excess. The adverse reactions and contraindications of this drug are not clear. Avoid indigestible food during the period of taking the medicine, and should not take red stone resin and its preparations at the same time; it is advisable to abstain from sexual intercourse. It should not be taken by patients with cold and fever, or those with Yin deficiency and internal heat.
