If chronic tension headache, it should be treated promptly, including medication and non-pharmacological treatment
1. Non-pharmacological treatment: Patients should understand the cause of the headache and the factors that may trigger it. Cognitive-behavioral therapy and acupuncture may be able to relieve headaches.
2. Pharmacologic treatment: This includes the use of analgesics and tricyclic antidepressants.
(1) Analgesics: commonly used in acute attacks of headache. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as acetaminophen and aspirin may be used.
(2) Tricyclic antidepressants: often used as prophylactic drugs for patients with chronic tension headache. Commonly used drugs are amitriptyline.
If chronic tension headache occurs, it should be admitted to the hospital in time, and standardize the use of medication under the guidance of the doctor.
