The hazards of ventilators are the risk of infection, skin damage, decreased lung function and oxygen toxicity. Ventilator is used for rescue of acute and critical illnesses, postoperative recovery, respiratory treatment and maintenance, etc.; there are two ways of transoral intubation and tracheotomy. 1. Infection: Ventilator intubation or tracheotomy on the oropharynx and local incision stimulation can cause infection, aspiration or reflux can cause aspiration pneumonia, prolonged bed rest can cause aspiration pneumonia. 2. Skin damage: the use of ventilator needs to be fixed with adhesive tape, local skin is prone to redness, swelling, itching or pressure sores. 3. Decline in lung function: prolonged overuse of ventilator will cause weakness and paralysis of respiratory muscles and decrease in alveolar capacity, which in turn will cause decline in lung function. 4. Oxygen toxicity: Long-term continuous oxygen intake, especially the high concentration of oxygen will cause damage to the lung tissue, resulting in oxygen toxicity. If there is any discomfort, we suggest patients to go to regular hospitals for consultation and treatment, and not to blindly treat themselves to avoid delaying the condition.
