Who did the “good deed” when the presbyopia was gone?

Presbyopia, medically known as “presbyopia”, is a normal physiological phenomenon, not a disease, caused by the decline in the function of the ciliary muscle in the eye as a result of aging, which in turn causes a decline in the adjustment ability of the human eye. This process generally begins at age 40 and ends at age 60. But some people suddenly find that they can read books and newspapers without presbyopic glasses when they reach the age of 60 to 70.
It can be said for sure that the function of the eye muscle has declined and will not recover automatically, so it is impossible for the presbyopia to get better or disappear on its own. After examination, people who have lost their “presbyopia” are usually patients with cataracts. Why do cataracts make presbyopia disappear?
This is because, in the early stage of cataract, due to the increase of lens density, the lens gradually becomes cloudy, making the refractive state of the eye slowly change to myopia. Presbyopia is corrected by “convex lens”, while myopia is corrected by “concave lens”, and when the two are superimposed, it will show that the lens degree is reduced or disappeared.
Therefore, in the early stage of cataract, some patients show that “presbyopia” is reduced or disappeared, and they can see near places more clearly than before. However, such people usually see far away less clearly, and with the development of the disease, it will become unclear to see near and far. Therefore, if the phenomenon of presbyopia gradually decreases, we must pay attention to it and be alert to the occurrence of cataracts.
