Radiofrequency technology for postherpetic neuralgia

The patient is a 65-year-old female with postherpetic neuralgia with a VAS score of 8. Physical examination reveals a dark red lesion between the right 9-10 ribs, distributed from the posterior axillary line forward to the abdominal midline. He complained that the area of pain was distributed in the right abdomen between the anterior axillary line to the midline of the abdomen and the T9-10 nerve distribution area. He had sought medical help from several places, and took oral analgesic drugs and topical medications, but the effect was not obvious. In the first treatment, 0.2% ropivacaine 3ml containing 40mg of methylprednisolone and 0.2mg of mecobalamin was injected into the right posterior axillary line between 9-10 ribs, and oral carbamazepine and mecobalamin were given. 3min, the patient had no pain sensation after radiofrequency, and continued to take oral mecobalamin and carbamazepine. The treatment of postherpetic neuralgia is difficult, like this patient mostly used the method of thoracic paravertebral block, there is a certain risk of neurological complications, the radiofrequency treatment of intercostal nerve is highly targeted and has achieved good results.
