Difference between closed and open atrophic gastritis

Atrophic gastritis is categorized according to the range of atrophic boundaries under gastroscopy. The atrophic boundaries start from the gastric antrum to the lesser curvature of the stomach, and those that don’t exceed the cardia are closed (type C), while those that exceed the cardia are open (type O). Atrophic gastritis refers to glandular atrophy of the gastric mucosal epithelium after repeated damage, usually associated with Helicobacter pylori infection, dietary stimuli and many other factors, is a chronic disease, and may cause abdominal bloating, abdominal pain and other uncomfortable symptoms. The closed and open types can be subdivided into three types: C1 atrophy is mainly confined to the sinus, C2 atrophy exceeds the angle of the stomach, C3 atrophy exceeds the angle of the stomach and is closer to the cardia, O1 atrophy just exceeds the cardia, O2 atrophy has spread to the entire fundus, and O3 atrophy extends to the body of the stomach. Atrophic gastritis should be treated under the guidance of a doctor to address the cause of the disease, while paying attention to a light diet, avoid spicy and stimulating food.
