How long before the blood draw should you not eat

In general, you should not eat within 6 hours before the blood test. This means that when blood is drawn at 6:00 am, you should not eat after 12:00 pm at night. If you eat after 12:00 p.m., it may interfere with the results of the blood test the next day. For example, if you take blood tests for liver function, kidney function, electrolytes, etc. the next day, eating may significantly interfere with the test results, especially for liver function tests, where transaminases may be abnormally high after eating. For some serological tests, eating can also cause significant interference. If the blood is diluted after eating, the concentration of various antibodies may drop accordingly, which may mislead the actual clinical results. Therefore, no food should be consumed within 6 hours prior to blood sampling.
