What does elevated CA125 mean?

CA125 refers to carcinoembryonic antigen 125, which is a tumor marker. elevated CA125 alone cannot confirm the diagnosis of the disease, but still needs to be combined with imaging and pathology to make a comprehensive judgment. CA125 is a monoclonal antibody isolated from ovarian epithelial cancer tissues. Significantly elevated levels of CA125 can be seen in patients with ovarian cancer, as well as other non-ovarian malignant tumors, such as breast, pancreatic, gastric, lung and colorectal cancers. If other tumor markers are normal, it may also be due to endometriosis or adenomyosis. Clinically, elevated serum CA125 can be detected in about 1% of healthy women, and CA125 also fluctuates slightly with the menstrual cycle. Excluding physiological factors, if you find elevated CA125, you should go to the hospital in time to complete the relevant examinations and find the cause of the disease, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
