Xiexi is a commonly used acupoint in Chinese medicine with the effect of relaxing the tendons and activating the channels (stretching the tendons and bones, dredging the meridians), clearing the stomach and resolving phlegm, and calming the mind (using medicines that are heavy and calming in nature to stabilize the mind). Xiexi point belongs to the foot Yangming stomach meridian. It is located at the midpoint of the anterior transverse stripe of the ankle joint on the dorsum of the foot, about level with the tip of the ankle, when the depression between the tendon of the extensor digitorum longus and the tendon of the extensor digitorum lesser. Indications: headache, dizziness, eye redness, abdominal distension, constipation, epilepsy (a condition of mental derangement, which is a general term for epilepsy and mania), swelling of the head and face, impotence and paralysis of the lower limbs (lower limb weakness, numbness and pain), and weakness of the ankles and wrists. Note that if acupuncture on Xie Xi point is needed, it needs to be operated by a specialized doctor.
