Frequent squeezing of the eyes cannot be controlled by oneself, usually caused by the following reasons: first, caused by orbicularis oculi muscle spasm, which is the ocular manifestation of facial muscle spasm, and some patients with serious conditions will also have twitching of the corners of their mouths, usually due to viral infections, over-fatigue, mental stress, and too little sleep. This leads to frequent abnormal discharges of the facial nerve branches controlling the orbicularis oculi muscle, which causes involuntary contraction of the orbicularis oculi muscle fibers. Secondly, due to corneal irritation caused by keratitis, in addition to non-stop squeezing the eyes, there will be fear of light, tearing symptoms, commonly found in viral keratitis, is due to inflammation stimulation, resulting in increased corneal sensitivity triggered. Thirdly, due to dry eye, because the eye surface lacks tear protection, the need for frequent squeezing of the eyes to redistribute tears on the surface of the cornea, resulting in uncontrollable frequent blinking.
