A so-called tendon rupture is also known medically as a rupture of a tendon. Tendon ruptures usually occur due to sharp ruptures caused by cutting injuries or tearing ruptures caused by long-term chronic wear and tear. Tendon injuries require surgery to explore and repair the tendon, and sometimes, if the severed end is farther apart, the tendon will need to be taken separately for reconstruction surgery. After the tendon repair or reconstruction surgery, the tendon must also undergo a relatively long period of rehabilitation exercises before it can regain its motor function. Therefore, after a tendon is broken, it must go through both surgery and rehabilitation before it can get a better functional recovery.
