How to adjust for low respiratory rate

Breathing rate refers to the frequency of breathing, and the normal value is 12-20 times per minute. Low breathing rate may be caused by snoring, obstructive sleep apnea hypoventilation syndrome, cardiac insufficiency, overdose of tranquilizer and so on, which can be adjusted by medication, surgery, respiratory machine, gastric lavage and other methods.
1. Snoring: The occurrence of snoring is related to brain dysregulation, neurohumoral, endocrine, genetic and other factors, which is manifested by low respiratory rate, memory loss, snoring during sleep, dry mouth, chest tightness, etc. In serious cases, a sense of suffocation will occur, weight control is needed, and surgery such as nasal septum correction surgery can be considered if necessary.
2. Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypoventilation Syndrome: it may be related to nasal polyps, enlarged tonsils, obesity and other factors, which may lead to low respiratory rate, snoring during sleep, daytime sleepiness, headache and other symptoms, and can be given positive-pressure ventilation on ventilator, and surgery can be considered if necessary.
3. Cardiac insufficiency: it may be tidal respiration and low respiratory rate in cardiac insufficiency; diuretic and cardiotonic can be given to improve the cardiac function according to the doctor’s instruction.
4. Sedative overdose: Sedative overdose may inhibit the respiratory center, the phenomenon of low respiratory rate, can follow the doctor’s instructions gastric lavage, rehydration and other methods of treatment.
Low respiratory rate should go to the hospital in time to confirm the diagnosis, under the guidance of the doctor for standardized treatment, daily exercise, healthy diet.
