How to manage pyloric hypertrophic stenosis in newborns

Neonatal pyloric hypertrophic stenosis generally refers to congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, which can be treated mainly by medication and surgery.
1. Drug treatment: there is no specific drug for congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, mainly symptomatic adjuvant treatment, such as atropine solution can be used to relieve spasm of pyloric sphincter; for dehydration, acid-base imbalance and electrolyte disorders caused by severe vomiting, it can be corrected through the use of dextrose injection, sodium chloride injection and so on.
2. Surgery: Surgery is the main treatment for congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, which can be performed through traditional open surgery or laparoscopic surgery for pyloric annuloplasty to cut through the hypertrophied pylorus and release the obstruction.
If a newborn is diagnosed with congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, parents should bring their child to the hospital in time for targeted treatment by the doctor according to the condition, and should not treat the condition with medication on their own. Breastfeeding is recommended, and more attention should be paid to the daily feeding of newborns to avoid over-feeding too quickly and too full, and to keep the newborn’s incision clean after the operation to avoid infection.
