Healthy living from GERD

Acid reflux is often mistaken for a heart problem and only after a cardiac examination is it found to be caused by acid reflux. In addition, sore throat, hoarse voice, chronic cough and asthma can be caused by acid reflux. If you have been suffering from these symptoms for a long time and have not been cured after many consultations, it may be related to acid reflux, so you should pay more attention to it. Professionals and managers are often faced with heavy workloads, often eating at irregular hours, coupled with bad habits such as late night snacking, smoking and alcohol, which increase the chance of acid reflux. Acid reflux is closely related to daily life and eating habits, so in order to prevent acid reflux, we must start by improving our life and eating habits. The cause of most acid reflux is that the lower esophageal sphincter, which connects the esophagus to the stomach, is often relaxed and fails to play the role of a gatekeeper, causing acid to flow back into the esophagus. Since the esophagus is not protected by mucous membrane, when acid flows back into the esophagus, it causes symptoms such as burning pain in the chest and difficulty in swallowing, and most patients feel uncomfortable after meals. If you eat at night before going to bed, the food is not digested in the stomach, which can easily cause gastric distension and increase the chance of sphincter relaxation. Many professionals are busy at work and often eat late at night or eat too late, which can increase the chance of disease. Acid reflux is often mistaken for a heart problem, and only after some heart tests is it found to be caused by acid reflux. In addition, sore throat, hoarse voice, chronic cough and asthma can all be caused by acid reflux. If you have been suffering from these symptoms for a long time and have not been cured after many consultations, it may be related to acid reflux, so you should pay attention to it. Stomach acid can back up into the trachea and cause coughing. Stomach acid may also stimulate the sympathetic nerves in the esophagus, directly affecting the airway contraction and causing asthma symptoms. Gastric acid reflux directly damages the esophagus, and the long-term lack of medical treatment may lead to esophagitis, esophageal ulcers, and even precancerous lesions of Barrett’s esophagus (Barrett’s esophagus), increasing the chance of cancer. However, the amount of disease is not positively related to the degree of esophageal damage. Some patients have significant acid reflux but minimal damage to the esophagus; on the contrary, some patients have no significant disease but have severe ulcers. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the presence of acid reflux and to seek early medical attention. Nowadays, the treatment of acid reflux is mainly based on a newer drug, acid pump inhibitor, which effectively controls the production of gastric acid and reduces the chance of acid reflux into the esophagus. Severe patients may require long-term medication to control the condition. Healthy living away from acid reflux 1, reduce the consumption of alcohol and caffeinated beverages; frequent consumption will affect the function of the esophagus, increasing the chance of disease. 2, pay attention to weight, too fat will slow down the peristaltic movement of the stomach, food stays in the stomach for a longer time, easily cause acid reflux. 3, eat regularly, avoid eating one to two hours before bedtime to reduce the chance of sphincter relaxation. 4, quit smoking habits, maintain a healthy life, and exercise in moderation.
