What does a gynecological ultrasound usually check?

A gynecological ultrasound is usually the main examination of the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. The fallopian tubes and ovaries are collectively referred to as the adnexa, and the purpose of the examination is to look at the size, shape and texture of the uterus and its relationship with the surrounding tissues, to check the thickness of the endometrium and whether the texture is even, and to see whether there are masses, cysts and pelvic fluid accumulation in the adnexal area. Regular gynecological ultrasound examination can detect small lesions early and take timely and effective treatment, thus preventing further progression of the disease. In addition to gynecological ultrasound examination, gynecological internal examination is also very necessary. The internal examination mainly checks whether the vulva is developing normally, whether the vagina is clear, whether the secretion is within the normal range, and conducts regular screening for cervical cancer. The uterus and both fallopian tubes and ovaries are also checked for inflammation and swelling.
