Can Lyme Disease Return After Recovery?

Lyme disease does not usually recur after it is cured.
Lyme disease is a naturally occurring infectious disease caused by Burkholderia cepacia infection, which can manifest as wandering erythema, fever, headache, and multi-system damage such as neurological and circulatory manifestations. The prognosis of patients is usually good through early diagnosis and timely treatment.
Lyme disease can be prevented by strengthening personal protection. Common examples include avoiding prolonged sitting and lying down in wooded areas, grassy areas, and other major tick habitats, wearing long sleeves and pants, tightening cuffs and collars, and applying tick repellents when entering infected areas.
People with a history of tick bites or field activities are advised to seek prompt medical attention and early treatment for suspected signs or symptoms such as fever and wandering skin erythema to avoid adverse consequences.
