Is hyperthyroidism dangerous?

Hyperthyroidism is harmful and can cause abnormal functioning of multiple organs and systems. It is more harmful if not treated in time, and may even be life-threatening. If hyperthyroidism can be effectively treated in time, the thyroid hormone level and clinical symptoms will be controlled and stabilized, the harm is relatively small. Hyperthyroidism patients may have goiter in the neck, which is diffusely and symmetrically enlarged. As well as palpitations, shortness of breath, atrial fibrillation, hyperphagia, progressive muscle weakness, diarrhea and other multi-system manifestations. When hyperthyroidism is severe, serious consequences such as thyroid crisis and heart failure may occur.
