If a patient has type 1 diabetes with high blood glucose, there is only one way to lower the sugar quickly, which is to treat it with subcutaneous insulin injection or intravenous insulin infusion, or to apply insulin pump. Because type 1 diabetes is not effective with oral medication, insulin must be used to control it. In the case of type 2 diabetes, depending on the patient’s specific blood sugar situation, oral medication or insulin treatment can be used. If the blood sugar is particularly high, it is recommended that insulin be used first to smoothly control blood sugar. Blood glucose control should not be rushed, but should be controlled slowly and smoothly. Avoid excessive blood glucose fluctuations. If the patient is pregnant with diabetes, insulin must be used to treat it, and oral medication is also contraindicated, because diabetes in pregnancy must be used to control blood sugar with insulin, and no oral hypoglycemic drugs can be taken.
