Is the stomach pain a new coronavirus?

Tummy ache is not a typical clinical manifestation of novel coronavirus infection. Novel coronavirus infection mainly causes some symptoms of respiratory tract, including dry cough, weakness, dyspnea and chest tightness. Of course, some severe cases can progress to respiratory failure or multiple organ failure. Some patients can develop flu-like symptoms, such as nasal congestion, sneezing, muscle aches and diarrhea. When a patient has diarrhea symptoms, it may induce a sensation of abdominal pain. However, if only symptoms of abdominal pain are clinically present without other respiratory concomitant symptoms, neocoronavirus infection is generally not considered. When abdominal pain as well as other respiratory symptoms are present, it is important to take into account the local epidemiology and to do chest CT, blood tests, and coronavirus nucleic acid tests if necessary.
