The mortality rate of gastroduodenal injury depends on whether there is a combination of other organ injuries; the mortality rate is low for simple gastric injury and over 40% for those with a combination of other organ injuries. In the case of duodenal injuries, the mortality rate due to complications can be as high as 20% due to the difficulty of early diagnosis and treatment, and can be doubled especially in patients who are treated after 24 hours of injury.
