Effects of Hersinol

It is composed of diltiazem, a non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that slows conduction in the sinus and atrioventricular nodes and also prolongs the anterograde conduction period in the atrioventricular node. This drug can dilate coronary arteries, lower the patient’s blood pressure, and reduce myocardial oxygen demand by negative inotropic effects, and can be used to treat coronary artery disease and hypertension, as well as rapid supraventricular arrhythmias, such as paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, or frequent premature atrial or junctional beats, and paroxysmal atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation, which can delay post-depolarization-induced ventricular arrhythmias. However, this drug is not recommended if the patient is already hypotensive, and some patients may experience abnormalities such as insomnia, headache, nausea, and diarrhea while taking this drug.
