Nasal congestion caused by deviated nasal septum and enlarged turbinate can be treated with medication and surgery.
1. Deviated nasal septum: The nasal septum bone and cartilage are deviated due to developmental abnormality, trauma or compression by nasal sinus mass, which causes nasal congestion. Mainly take the nasal septum submucosal resection, nasal septum corrective surgery to correct the abnormal nasal structure, improve the symptoms of nasal congestion.
2. Turbinate hypertrophy: it is the main pathological feature of chronic hypertrophic rhinitis, and it is easy to cause nasal congestion with nasal septum deviation or separate attack. The mucous membrane of the turbinate is hyperplastic and hypertrophied, showing dark red or light purple red, and the turbinate bone can be enlarged, often blocking the whole nasal cavity. The surface of the inferior turbinate is uneven, nodular or mulberry-shaped, and the anterior end of the inferior turbinate and its free edge are particularly prominent.
Nasal decongestants such as hydroxymetazoline and glucocorticoids such as budesonide can be sprayed through the nose, 0.5% procaine can be used for sealing the Yingxiang and Nitong acupoints, and Chinese medicines such as Huozhi Pill and rhinitis tablets can be taken orally, and the inferior turbinate can be injected with 5% cod liver oil and sodium sclerosing agent, and low-temperature plasma can be inserted into the mucous membrane of the inferior turbinate to carry out ablation.
If there is no obvious response to vasoconstrictor or the above treatment fails to work, the inferior turbinate can be partially resected. For bony hypertrophy of the inferior turbinate, submucosal resection of the inferior turbinate is feasible. CO₂ laser, radiofrequency gasification or ablation of hypertrophied inferior turbinate mucosa or submucosal tissue is also feasible.
When it is clear that the nasal septum deviation nasal turbinate hypertrophy caused by nasal congestion patients, can actively seek medical systematic examination, after a clear diagnosis, follow the doctor’s instructions standardized treatment.
