What Causes High Blood Lipids

High blood lipid mainly refers to the elevation of total cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL cholesterol. Elevated blood lipid may be caused by physiological factors such as greasy diet and lack of exercise, or it may be caused by diseases such as nephrotic syndrome, liver disease and hyperlipoproteinemia. 1. Total cholesterol: Physiological factors such as greasy diet and lack of exercise can cause elevated total cholesterol. Nephrotic syndrome, liver disease, diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism and other diseases can cause elevated total cholesterol. 2. Triglycerides: pregnancy, alcoholism and other physiological factors can cause triglyceride elevation. Familial hypertriglyceridemia can cause elevated triglycerides. 3. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol: pregnancy can cause elevation of LDL cholesterol. Acute myocardial infarction, hyperlipoproteinemia, chronic renal failure can cause elevated LDL cholesterol.
