The first two or three days of hepatic encephalopathy may be characterized by anxiety and euphoria, etc. According to the clinical manifestations, it can be divided into latent stage, prodromal stage, pre-comatose stage, somnolent stage and comatose stage.
1. Latent stage: no signs of neurological pathology. There is only a slight abnormality in the intelligence test.
2. Prodromal phase: may be characterized by mild personality changes and mental abnormalities. There may be euphoric agitation and amnesia. There may be fluttering tremor.
3. Pre-comatose stage: drowsiness, there may be behavioral abnormalities such as disheveled clothing, urination and defecation. There are neurological signs such as increased muscle tone and fluttering tremor.
4. Stupor: sleepy but can be awakened, often with confusion or hallucinations, various neurological signs persist or aggravate.
5. Coma stage: not awakenable, falling into a coma.
