Normal diet is usually available about three weeks after stoma retrieval surgery.
After the stoma retraction surgery, there are gas and bowel movement phenomenon, you can eat some light liquid food, such as rice soup, broth and so on, according to the doctor’s advice. At about one week after the operation, if you can have normal gas and bowel movement without other abnormal symptoms, you can start to eat semi-liquid food, such as vegetable porridge, noodles in soup or wontons in clear soup. When it is about three weeks after surgery, normal diet will be resumed gradually.
