How to remove a tube after ureteral stone surgery

After ureteral stone surgery, a ureteral stent tube is left in the body, and the method of removing it is done by cystoscopy. After the cystoscope enters the bladder through the urethra and finds the ureteral opening, the tortuous ureteral stent tube can be seen at the end of the ureteral opening, and the ureteral stent tube can be extracted outward by placing an extraction forceps through the operating channel of the cystoscope and holding the end of the ureteral stent tube. The extraction process takes about 5 minutes and is usually painless, but there may be a transient back pain at the moment of extraction. A slight tingling in the urethra may occur during extubation, and the tingling may continue for about 1-2 hours after extubation and gradually subside. After extubation, there is no need to be hospitalized for observation, and the patient is only required to go home and drink more fluids and urinate more often. However, if the ureteral stent tube retraction occurs during the extraction process, or the ureteral stent tube folds into a stone and causes difficulty in extraction, then it is necessary to hospitalize under anesthesia for the extraction of the ureteral stent tube.
