For this scenario, the first thing to do is to examine the nose to see if there is any redness, swelling, congestion, etc. on one side of the nose. Secondly, the nasal vestibule should be examined at the same time to see if there is folliculitis of the hair follicles on the inner side of the nose, if there are abscesses of the hair follicles, or even if there is a suspected nosebleed. Rule out infectious factors, and if there are, of course, give anti-infective treatment, mainly antibiotics for local and systemic use. If these are not present, ask to see if there are similar cartilages elsewhere that show pain, redness and swelling. This is because there is another disease called polychondritis, or recurrent polychondritis. This disease tends to have similar symptoms of redness, swelling, and pain in cartilage like the cartilage of the nose, ear cartilage, and cartilage in other parts of the body. Treatment, because it is an immune disease, is mainly with hormones.
